Leaf miner from American Chestnut (Castanea dentata) and other Castanea sps. from Long Island, New York

The sequences in this study belong to leaf miner species sampled as part of a survey of leafmining taxa known to utilize Castanea spp. These surveys were done to determine which leaf- and stem-mining species are still present in two remnant patches of C. dentata on Long Island, New York. In addition, one of our field sites contains plantings of 7 other Castanea spp. including non-natives, which allows us to assess the ability of non-native members of the genus to host native leafmining species that formerly exploited C. dentata.
