Building-scale functional mixing reveals a decarbonization window in cities

This dataset provides a streamlined release of the China building-function atlas developed for the associated study on building-scale functional mixing and urban operational carbon. The atlas maps building functions across China’s urban system at the individual-building level, supporting the quantification of neighborhood- and building-scale functional mixing, spatial functional heterogeneity, and their relationships with grid-level urban operational carbon. The data are distributed as regional GeoPackage archives (.tar.gz), with each GeoPackage retaining the essential attributes required for reuse: id, height, BF1, BF2, area, and building geometry. BF1 represents the primary building-function category, whereas BF2 represents the secondary or refined building-function category. Each archive was generated from a compacted GeoPackage after attribute reduction and physical database optimization. MD5 and SHA256 checksum files, together with manifest files, are provided to support file verification, reproducibility, and long-term data integrity.
