Salmonella enterica is a species with many serovars. Some serovars, such as Typhi and Paratyphi, cause typho-paratyphoid fevers, while others cause gastroenteritis or extra-digestive infections, such as bacteraemia in immunocompromised individuals . In hospitals, they can be responsible for nosocomial infections or even outbreaks in certain departments. Non-typhoidal Salmonella strains that were initially susceptible to antibiotics have developed resistance, including resistance to fluoroquinolones, 3rd generation cephalosporins, and even carbapenems .The aim of this submission is to describe the first isolate of Salmonella enterica serovar Heidelberg producing OXA 48 carbapenemase emerged in a neonatology department in Algeria.
