Primary and final energy consumption in the EU for the target year 2020, 2005-2020

This comparison provides an overview of the energy consumption of the EU-member states. It shows the trend of primary and final energy consumption. Primary energy consumption measures the total energy demand of a country. It includes the consumption of the energy sector, losses during transformation, the distribution of energy and the final consumption by the end users. Energy carriers used for non-energy purposes are excluded. Final energy consumption includes energy supplies to industry, households, services, agriculture and transport. Supplies to the energy transportation sector and the energy industry are excluded. For both energy consumption types, it is predicted whether the target of the year 2020 will be achieved or not.
