Field measurements and AR-based estimates of urban street-tree structure in Guangzhou, China
收藏资源简介:
This dataset contains the field measurements and augmented-reality (AR) estimates used in the manuscript “Calibrated smartphone augmented reality for urban street-tree inventory and monitoring” submitted to Ecological Informatics. The data were collected along a 1.5-km high-density street corridor (Xinyang East Road) in Guangzhou, China, for 125 roadside trees belonging to two common species. For each tree, conventional tape-based measurements were obtained as reference values, and three smartphone platforms (HUAWEI Mate Xs, HUAWEI Mate 60 Pro, iPhone 11) with built-in AR measurement apps were used to collect matching AR observations. The upload includes two Excel workbooks: 1) “DBH data and computation (n=125).xlsx” – Reference diameter at breast height (DBH, cm) measured with a diameter tape at 1.3 m. – Basal AR rectangle or line measurements for each device. – Derived uncalibrated AR diameters and calibrated DBH values using the geometric–statistical workflow described in the paper. – Columns documenting residuals and accuracy metrics used in the analysis. 2) “Survey data and calculations on tree spacing and planting pit (n=125).xlsx” – Reference planting-pit side lengths and areas (m²) and tree spacing (cm) measured with a tape. – AR-based measurements of pit side lengths and tree spacing for each smartphone. – Computed areas, AR–reference differences, and summary statistics. All variables are described in the first sheet of each workbook. The data are provided to support full reproducibility of the figures and accuracy analysis in the paper, and they can be reused for ecological informatics applications such as biomass and carbon-stock estimation, urban microclimate modelling, and methodological comparisons of tree measurement techniques.
