The tin oxide(SnO2) carriers were prepared by precipitation method and further mixed with mono-sodium (Na) under nitrogen protection to obtain Na/SnO2 solid base catalysts. The structure, morphology and alkali strength of the catalysts were analyzed using SEM, FT-IR, XRD, TG-DSC and hammett indicator. The application in biodiesel production via transesterification of rapeseed oil and methanol was investigated in detail. The results showed that under the conditions of pH 8, the catalyst calcination temperature was 600℃,the calcination time was 3 hours, the surfactant dosage was 0.015mol and the loaded sodium mass was 3.75wt.%, the transesterification conversion for Na/SnO2 reach up to 93.6%.
