Anonymised Quantitative Dataset for "Men Don't Talk About Feelings": Challenging Hegemonic Masculinity through Group-Based Emotional Expression Interventions

This repository contains the anonymised quantitative dataset supporting the findings of the manuscript “Men Don’t Talk About Feelings”: Challenging Hegemonic Masculinity through Group-Based Emotional Expression Interventions. The dataset includes study-group assignment, low-risk demographic variables, item-level responses to the Turkish version of the Verbal Expression of Emotions Scale, and pre-test and post-test subscale scores for love, anger, sadness, happiness and affection. Direct identifiers, contact information, institutional details, free-text responses and other potentially identifying variables have been removed. The workbook also includes a codebook and a README sheet describing the variables and anonymisation procedures. Full audio recordings and qualitative transcripts are not included because they contain sensitive personal disclosures and public sharing was not covered by the participants’ original informed consent. The data were collected from male undergraduate students participating in a mixed-methods, quasi-experimental social work group intervention conducted in Ankara, Türkiye, between July and August 2025.
