VPRS 19086 Medical Director Papers

This series comprises a selection of the papers of Dr John Shepherd, the Medical Director of Mount Royal Hospital (VA 1280) from 1962 – 1988. Dr John (S.J.H) Shepherd was first appointed to the Mount Royal Hospital as the Rehabilitation Medical Officer on 23 November 1959. On 2 April 1962 he was appointed as the Medical Director, a position he held until his retirement on 2 December 1988. This series includes permanent records that were found in Dr Shepherd’s personal files and not any other recordkeeping system. The remainder of Dr Shepherd’s papers are held by the Royal Melbourne Hospital archives.
