Glucocerebrosidase (GBA) catalyzes the cleavage of the major glycolipid glucosylceramide into glucose and ceramide.A previous study showed upregulation of GBA in placentas from women with preeclampsia.To elucidate the consequences of high GBA levels in placenta we overexpressed GBA in the JAR placental cell line, performed RNAseq of cells and study the release and effect of GBA overexpression of the JAR extracellular vesicles.
