Fecal transplantation in dogs with acute hemorrhagic diarrhea syndrome (AHDS)

Dogs with acute hemorrhagic diarrhea syndrome (AHDS) were randomized to receive either FMT or a sham treatment with saline. Fecal samples were collected before treatment then at the time of hospital discharge and 30 days after treatment. Fecal samples from 8 dogs with AHDS and 4 healthy fecal donors were included. 16S-rRNA amplicon sequencing was used to characterize the fecal microbiomes and the diversity and abundance of taxa was compared among FMT-recipients, sham-treated dogs, and healthy donors at the three timepoints.
