The immediate macroscopic objectives are to determine the overall stability, the fluid flow characteristics, the average heat transfer coefficient in the evaporator, and the heat conductance of the CVB as a function of vapor volume and heat flow rate.
On the microscopic scale, the scientific objective is to evaluate the local details of the Kelvin-Clapeyron model of change-of-phase heat transfer under microgravity conditions where the extended Young-Laplace equation predominates.
