资源简介:
The VA-1 core was drilled in Wise County, Virginia by the Columbia Gas Transmission Company in April 1977 as part of the U.S. Energy Department’s Eastern Shale Gas Project (VA-1 Summary Report 1979). The core was drilled to a depth of 5740 feet (1749.6m) and 380 feet of 3.5 inch core were recovered in two sections: The upper section of the core (4870-5020 feet) encompasses all but the uppermost ~0.3m of the Cleveland Shale and extends into the underlying Three Lick Bed; the lower recovered interval (5210-5455 feet) includes ~35m of the Middle Huron and all but the lowermost 1-2 meters of the underlying Lower Huron. The core currently resides in the collection of the Virginia Department of Mines, Minerals, and Energy in Charlottesville, Virginia. This dataset includes elemental analyses (TOC, TN, TS, TP, reactive Fe) and stable isotope analyses (d13C, d15N, d34S). The purpose of the dataset is to examine changes in the biogeochemistry of the Late Devonian Appalachian basin during periods of contrasting warm and cool climates.
