Nominative Case [Именительный падеж]

This entry has been prepared for the Historical Encyclopedia of the Russian Language. [Энциклопедический словарь] / Vadim B. Krysko, ed. .Moscow, Azbukovnik Press, 2020. ISBN 978-5-91172-192-3. The References section is deliberately minimized, according to the format of this edition. I introduce the distinction of argument versus non-argument case uses to historical Russian grammar and consider several idiosyncratic constructions with nominative-case marking. Old Russian as well as Russian language of the subsequent periods had a parameter licensing nominative objects in non-finite (mostly, infinitive) and finite clauses.
