The sequence data in this project are from metagenomic sequencing of surface water samples collected from Kissena Lake in Queens, New York City on September 26, 2019 during a cyanobacterial bloom dominated by Raphidiopsis (Cylindrospermopsis) raciborskii. The primary objective was to capture the genomic sequence of a North American strain of Raphidiopsis raciborskii from a bloom in a natural lake. The dominant bloom-forming species in this lake at the time of sample collection was microscopically/morphologically identified as Raphidiopsis raciborskii. A secondary objective was to metagenomically profile the co-occurring cyanobacterial community.
