This paper presents an ontological critique of the Axiom of Choice (AC) within Zermelo–Fraenkel set theory. It argues that the concept of "choice" is incoherent in the absence of a differentiating standard that individuates the chosen element. The paper introduces a distinction between Pure Difference (numerical distinctness) and Generative Differentiation(rule-governed identity). It demonstrates that relying on pure difference to ground both plurality and selection results in a vicious circle. By analyzing the structural indiscernibility of sets in ZFC, the paper reinterprets the independence results of Gödel and Cohen. It concludes that AC does not reveal an intrinsic capacity of sets for selection, but rather represents an externally imposed labelling (implanted structure). The paper proposes that infinite plurality is only ontologically coherent under a generative standard, making "choice without identity" an illusion of language rather than a mathematical reality.
