This report presents a case of endophthalmitis caused by massive Bacillus cereus infection following ocular trauma in a 51-year-old male patient. Bacillus cereus was isolated from the surgical sample, and the pathogen's genomic DNA was sequenced using nanopore single-molecule sequencing technology for whole-genome analysis. After 24 hours of active local and oral antibiotic treatment, the symptoms in the affected eye improved. This is the first report of endophthalmitis caused by Bacillus cereus following ocular trauma in humans, accompanied by whole-genome sequencing and analysis of its genomic characteristics.
