资源简介:
he emergence and spread of antibiotic-resistant bacteria represent one of the most pressing challenges in public health, with Carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae (CRE) being a significant concern, particularly in healthcare settings. CRE infections are associated with high mortality rates and limited treatment options, making them a critical focus for epidemiological surveillance and infection control. This is especially pertinent in pediatric populations, where the impact of antibiotic resistance can be profound due to the unique physiological and developmental considerations in this group. In recent years, Shandong Province, China, like many regions worldwide, has witnessed an alarming rise in the incidence of CRE. This trend poses a substantial risk to public health and underscores the urgent need for comprehensive research to understand the mechanisms of resistance and to inform effective intervention strategies. The Jinan Children's Hospital, a major pediatric healthcare provider in the region, serves as an ideal setting for such a study, given its central role in pediatric care and its access to a diverse patient population. This study aims to analyze stool samples collected from the Jinan Children's Hospital to identify the prevalence and characteristics of CRE. The focus on genome sequencing is particularly pivotal, as it offers a detailed understanding of the genetic mechanisms underpinning antibiotic resistance, which is crucial for developing targeted therapies and effective control measures.Such information is vital for guiding clinical decision-making and antibiotic stewardship in pediatric healthcare settings. In presenting the findings from this comprehensive analysis, the study aims to provide insights that are not only relevant for clinical microbiologists and infectious disease specialists but also for public health policymakers. The ultimate goal is to enhance our understanding of CRE in pediatric patients, thereby informing better healthcare practices and policies to mitigate the spread of these formidable pathogens in Shandong Province and beyond.
