VPRS 18350 Amalgamation Planning Committee - Agendas, Minutes and Papers

This record series consists of minutes, agendas, meeting papers, reports, and correspondence of the Amalgamation Planning Committee, a joint committee between the State College of Victoria at Coburg (VA 5188) and the Preston Institute of Technology (VA 1212). The two institutions had agreed to amalgamate, and the Committee was established to progress their amalgamation towards what would become the Phillip Institute of Technology.The Committee was responsible for investigating areas of commonality and difference between the two institutions and developing a framework for the new institution. Matters considered by the Committee included the name of the new institution, constitution and legislation matters, academic governance, staffing, financial systems, library services, student records, student services, and senior appointments. Working parties were set up to investigate these issues and provide reports to the Committee. A regular bulletin was produced and distributed that provided a summary of the Committee's decisions and activities at its meetings.
