Legacy effects of extinct flagship species on protected areas: The last Javan rhinoceros in Vietnam and the last tiger in Laos

This repository contains the dataset and R code used in the study 'Legacy effects of extinct flagship species on protected areas'. Our study uses the synthetic control method to compare forest loss trajectories of protected areas designed to protect flagship species with counterfactuals modelled using similar protected areas.
