Hydrocarbon concentrations during the biodegradation of oil at different concentrations in surface water

Surface seawater collected from the Aransas Channel, Port Aransas, Texas (27°50'17.4"N 97°03'00.9"W) on July 15, 2013, was incubated with crude oil (surrogate Macondo oil) at initial concentrations of 0, 50, 10, 200, 400, and 800 ppm (0 ppm was not analyzed). The samples were incubated at room temperature for 50 d. Petroleum hydrocarbons were analyzed at 0, 5, 12, 28, and 50 d. This dataset represents the hydrocarbon (alkane) concentrations for different oil concentrations and various time points.
