The study includes 16S rRNA gene sequences (V3-V4 region) of loggerhead sea turtles' carapace epibiotic microbial communities (a total of 32 samples: 28 carapace samples, 2 tank samples, 1 environmental sample, 1 negative control sample). The samples were sequenced by the Illumina MiSeq v2 platform (2x300 bp PE) using primers 341F and 805R (Klindworth et al., 2013).
