Rubric Instrument for Assessment of Narrative Writing Ability

Rubric Instrument for Assessment of Narrative Writing Ability is an assessment instrument adapted from Nurgiyantoro (1995) to evaluate students’ narrative writing ability. The rubric measures five main aspects, namely content, organization, grammar, style, and punctuation. The content aspect includes indicators such as plot, characterization, setting, and point of view, while the other aspects assess the logical structure of the essay, sentence arrangement, vocabulary and language use, and writing mechanics. Each criterion is scored on a four-level scale ranging from excellent to poor performance.
