Recruitment of oyster spat to collectors at control and oiled sites in Barataria Bay 2011-2013

Oyster spat recruitment on 10x10 cm tiles submersed monthly at four sites in Barataria Bay. Bay Jimmy and Grand Terre were contaminated, Grand Isle and Hackberry Bay were control sites. Recruitment rates were bimodal in 2012 and similar among sites in 2012, but recruitment only occurred late in the season at control sites in 2013, possibly due to an interaction between low salinity and hydrocarbon exposure. Results indicate possible long term effects on oyster recruitment during low salinity years.
