资源简介:
Jur's research data Abstract: The present study examines how the quality of partner relationships is associated with work engagement and burnout, considering the satisfaction and frustration of basic psychological needs in that private relationship. We argue that basic psychological needs mediate between the partner relationship and work and act as an explanatory mechanism in that relationship. When things are going well at home, it positively influences work engagement. And what happens when one’s basic needs in the relationship are frustrated? We analyzed data collected from 317 Dutch residents in committed partner relationships using structural equation modeling in a parallel mediation model. As hypothesized, the results indicate that a supportive partner relationship is associated withpromotes higher basic needs satisfaction, enhancing work engagement and decreasing the risk of burnout. Surprisingly, we also found that the frustration of a partner’s basic psychological needs is connected to increased energy for work and lower levels of exhaustion. Individuals may channel their energy into work when their partner relationship compromises their basic needs. Implications for practice and future research are discussed.
