AC2 easement base for registered and classified sites — digitised version DDT 63

Public utility easements (SUPs) are administrative limitations on the right to property, they are established for the benefit of public persons, concessionaires of public works or public works, private persons engaged in an activity in the public interest. The collection and conservation of public utility easements is a sovereign task of the State, which must bring them to the attention of local and regional authorities so that they may annex them to their urban planning documents. The public utility easements concerned are those defined by Articles L. 126-1 and R. 126-1 of the Urban Planning Code and their annexes.

AC2-type SUPs are established in the vicinity of natural monuments and sites whose conservation or preservation is of general interest from an artistic, historical, scientific, legendary or picturesque point of view.

The inscription either concerns natural monuments or sites deserving of protection but not
not of a remarkable interest sufficient to justify their classification, or is a
precautionary measure before classification. It can also be a tool adapted to the
preservation of small rural heritage in areas with little land pressure. Finally,
it is increasingly aimed at protecting enclaves, in conjunction with a classification, and
the surroundings of a classified site.

The classification offers strong protection by prohibiting, unless special authorisation, the carrying out of
any work aimed at modifying or destroying the appearance of the site

The easement applies after the Ministerial Order of Classification or Registration of the Site has been issued.
