The Burmese-English Reference Corpus was created by the AI Research Laboratory at the University of Computer Studies, Mandalay, Myanmar, aiming to provide an evaluation resource for the word alignment task of the Burmese-English language pair. This corpus contains verified word alignments from the Burmese ALT of the Asian Language Treebank (ALT), with a total of 500 sentence pairs, each having a maximum length of 15 words. The dataset was manually annotated following detailed annotation guidelines, using deterministic (S) and probabilistic (P) tags to mark word alignments. It is primarily used to evaluate the performance of word alignment systems, especially for applications in statistical machine translation.
