RO-C-RPCMIP-RPCLAP-5-EXT1
收藏资源简介:
Data Set Overview This dataset contains the plasma electron density derived from crosscalibrating datasets provided by RPCMIP and RPCLAP instruments for EXT1 (ROSETTA EXTENSION 1) mission phase, between 2016/01/01 and 2016/04/05. While this dataset aims to cover the entire Rosetta mission, it is not possible to derive the plasma density for each single measurement in a continuous manner and only days with sufficient quality are provided. Derived crosscalibrated data collected in this dataset are referred as CODMAC Level 5 products. Processing Crosscalibrated plasma electron densities enclosed in this dataset have been obtained by combining measurements from RPCLAP and electron densities derived from RPCMIP. While reliable electron density values are obtained through the analysis of RPCMIP electric impedance spectra measurements, they suffer a number of limitations due to instrumental capabilities, notably affecting the time resolution. On the other hand, RPCLAP provides high cadence measurements of physical quantities directly related to the electron density. Crosscalibrated plasma electron densities are thus obtained by fitting floating potential and/or ion current measured by RPCLAP probes to the electron densities provided by RPCMIP. The crosscalibration is performed over fixed overlapping sliding time windows, assuming a physical model between both inputs. Possible issues on RPCMIP and RPCLAP inputs usability for such purposes are a priori limited by a careful selection of crosscalibration intervals as well as prioritization between RPCLAP measurements used as input (between floating potential and ion current and between RPCLAP probes). All inputs used during the crosscalibration procedure are available as L5 datasets on the PSA: ROCRPCMIP5, containing the RPCMIP derived electron density ROCRPCLAP5, containing different measurements from RPCLAP probes.
