Simulated MeerKAT and MeerKAT+ images of X-shaped Radio Galaxy Candidates from the VLA FIRST survey

This dataset contains simulated MeerKAT and MeerKAT+ S-band images of X-shaped radio galaxy (XRG) candidates from the VLA Faint Images of the Radio Sky at Twenty centimeters (FIRST) survey. The simulations were performed using the Stimela2 pipeline framework and WSClean imaging software. The dataset is organized into three folders: - redshift_analysis: Four-panel comparison images for 20 XRG candidates showing the original VLA FIRST image, the MeerKAT+ S-band simulation at the source's true redshift, and simulations at the maximum detectable redshift at 3-sigma and 5-sigma detection thresholds. - full_sample: Two-panel comparison images showing the VLA FIRST image alongside the MeerKAT+ S-band simulation at the source's true redshift for the full simulated sample. - long_integration: Simulated MeerKAT and MeerKAT+ L and S-band images for a subsample of 10 XRG candidates using 6-hour long-track observations.
