Pterygoplichthys pardalis Genome sequencing

Suckermouth catfishes, with their numerous evolved features, have become an invasive species and have caused massive impacts on the ecosystem. However, the genetic basis for their strong environmental adaptability has not yet been reported. In this study, we successfully assembled the first chromosome-level genome of Pterygoplichthys pardalis, with a genome size of 1.51 Gb and an N50 length of 49.47 Mb.
