Tahoe Conifer Mortality Map 2022 to 2024

Sentinel-2 (10-meter) summer (Jul-Aug) imagery was used to create conifer mortality maps of the non-treated and non-deciduous areas in the Lake Tahoe Basin. 594 points (3 meter spacing) representing 66 virtual plots (SR2 10-meter resolution) were visually interpreted using 2022 and 2024 1-m NAIP imagery into mortality and non-mortality classes. The nine binary mortality and non-portality points (3m spacing) were summarized at the 10-m Sentinel-2 pixel scale and related to the difference in NDVI between 2022 and 2024 to create percent mortality maps. WUI, known treated pixels, meadows, and other deciduous vegetation was masked out.
