Mantis religiosa and Hierodula tenuidentata curated data with code for analyses

We aimed to provide the first direct, multi-scale comparison of the realized climatic niches of H. tenuidentata and M. religiosa, including contrasts between the native and invaded ranges of H. tenuidentata, to evaluate the degree of invasion and its potential impact on the native species in Europe. We compiled occurrence records of Hierodula tenuidentata (including Hierodula transcaucasica) and Mantis religiosa from the Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF) for Eurasia Methods To quantify similarities and differences in the realized climatic niches of *Mantis religiosa *and Hierodula tenuidentata, we employed univariate and multivariate analyses across three scenarios: (1) *M. religiosa *vs. *H. tenuidentata across Eurasia, (2) native vs. invaded ranges of H. tenuidentata, and (3) both species *within Europe, where H. tenuidentata is non-native. First, we calculated density profiles for the climatic variables sampled at the locations of geographically thinned records. Next, we conducted multivariate analyses using the COUE framework (centroid shift, overlap, unfilling and expansion) and the n-dimensional hypervolume framework.
