Reproducibility compendium for diverging trajectories of atrial fibrillation/flutter and diabetes-related conditions in China

This repository provides the analytical code, data-processing documentation, derived results, figures, and supporting materials for a reproducible secondary analysis of atrial fibrillation/flutter and diabetes-related conditions in China using Global Burden of Disease (GBD) 2023 estimates for 1990–2023. The analysis covers atrial fibrillation/flutter, diabetes mellitus, type 1 diabetes mellitus, and type 2 diabetes mellitus. It includes descriptive trend analyses, Joinpoint regression, incidence decomposition, sex-specific comparisons, and fixed-weight age contributions to changes in the absolute male–female type 2 diabetes age-standardized mortality-rate gap. Version 2026.10.23 adds sensitivity analyses, Holm-adjusted p-values for exploratory sex-ratio trend tests, original non-fatal NCI Joinpoint outputs, reproducibility inputs and settings, and updated manuscript and supplementary materials. The repository includes analytical scripts, frozen inputs, numerical outputs, figures, and verification reports. Some analyses require the official NCI Joinpoint software for independent model refitting. Uncertainty and reproducibility limitations are documented in the accompanying README. This version does not include forecasts to 2050. GBD source estimates are provided by the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) and remain subject to the applicable IHME data-use terms. No unrestricted reuse rights are claimed over source estimates. Author-generated code, figures, and documentation are subject to their applicable licences.
