Investigation of DNA polymorphisms in the cerebellar abiotrophy region in Australian Kelpie dogs

Cerebellar Abiotrophy (CA) is an autosomal recessive disease in Australian kelpie dogs that results in ataxia. The disease locus was previously mapped to a 5 Mb region on canine chromosome 3. Nimblegen sequence capture and 454-sequencing of this 5 Mb candidate region was performed for two affected and one unaffected kelpie using multiplex identifier sequences on one picotitre plate.
