资源简介:

These digital maps and data were created as an update to the last Ohio oil and gas fields maps created in 1996. The last Ohio oil and gas fields map published prior to this was in 1974. The purpose of this updated digital oil and gas fields map is to create a GIS-based map set and database that can be easily accessed and displayed and related to other geologic datasets. The 1996 version of maps was the first digitally produced oil and gas fields maps for Ohio and were named DCMS (Digital Chart and Map Series) 13 through 21. In the DCMS map series, all of the pool/field outlines were digitized, however, unique numbers and names were not linked to the polygons. This updated map set and database has assigned unique pool/field numbers and names to every digitized polygon. The 1974 oil and gas fields map was one composite map displaying all producing horizons. With increased activity, this map quickly became outdated and the format difficult to read and update. Since 1974 over 58,000 oil and gas wells have been drilled in Ohio. In eastern Ohio, where over 30 producing intervals may overlie one another, it is especially difficult to distinguish individual productive trends when viewing all production together. For this latest update, individual horizon production maps have been grouped into 8 separate stratigraphic intervals or "plays." These maps can be displayed on a statewide base map showing county and township boundaries or other features of interest. All of the individual maps may also be compiled into one composite oil and gas fields map for the state. In addition, other types of digital data may be overlain (structure and isopach maps, bedrock geology and topography maps, topographic relief maps, etc.) to assist the geologist in their interpretation needs. The maps in this series can be used as reconnaissance tools for exploration, secondary recovery, environmental assessments, and planning issues. Having the production mapped separately in these groups permits greater flexibility to the explorationist in what
