The genome sequence of the acai berry (Euterpe oleracea Mart.) and RNA-Seq analysis of the fruit ripening

Euterpe oleracea Mart. is a perennial wetland palm of the Arecaceae family native to the eastern Amazon region. The fruit of this palm tree is called acai, and is used to produce a beverage of great social and economic importance to the Amazon, which has gained great international notoriety in recent years. The aim of our study was to sequence the acai genome using Oxford Nanopore long-read sequencing and to evaluate the gene expression of the fruit during the ripening process in both the white and purple varieties, via RNA-Seq analysis.
