Interaction plant-hummingbird in Cunha-SP/Brazil.csv

Our study site was Serra do Mar State Park – Nucleo Cunha (PESM-Cunha, 23°09' S, 44°57' W), southeastern Brazil. We defined three transects in existing trails, each 1.5 km long and 10 m wide. We installed twelve time-lapse cameras (Plotwatcher Pro) in each monthly census in each transect. We first positioned six cameras in front of the focal plants with flowers potentially pollinated by hummingbirds and distributed them along the transect so that there was a minimum distance of ten meters between them, when possible. After three days, we repositioned them in another focal plant to record for another three days, totaling 36 cameras/month. We performed a monthly sampling of flower abundance for those species potentially visited by hummingbirds in each transect. The count was independent of whether or not it was the same individual. We counted directly when the total number of flowers was less than 50, and we estimated when there were more than 50 flowers of the same species at one point. In the latter case, we separated the flowers into units of the same size (branches or inflorescences), counted the flowers of five units, and multiplied the mean of these five units by the total number of units. We considered local floral density as the density of conspecifics and heterospecifics in each transect.
