Brain innate immune cell (CD11b/c) activation after intraventricular hemorrhage

This RNAseq study accompanies a histological assessment of the changes in the innate immune system 24hrs following the injection of lysed blood into the right lateral ventricle of p5 rat pups compared to saline. Microglia and macrophages were enriched from a suspension of brain cells using CD11b/c magnetic bead selection and evaluated by flow cytometry and mRNA RNAseq. This work was accompanied by a histology study of microglial activation over time using quantitative methods including skeleton analysis and Scholl analysis. Finally, the study uses primary human tissue samples to further support the study's conclusions.
