LOJA DANIKÀ - Esempi di osmosi linguistica e rituale

In the context of the relationships between the hellenophone island of the Salento and the romance dialects, emblematic examples are showed of the diffusion of Greek lexicon in the surrounding dialects and, conversely, of francophone influxes - or of ancient and Renaissance Italian - in the Greek of the Salento. On the other hand, written testimonies of the Greek language in the parish registers and numerous pieces of evidence of married clerics until the end of the XVIII century - even outside of the hellenophone area - further support the thesis that the Greek rite did not extinguish in a traumatic way, but rather peacefully, after centuries of coexistence with the Latin rite in Terra d'Otranto.
