Three endangered species for which cowbird parasitism has been identified as a major factor in population decline have incubation periods > 14 days: Black-capped Vireo, Least Bell's Vireo, and Kirtland's Warbler. Twenty-five neotropical migrant species parasitized by cowbird have incubation periods of 13 days or longer, including Wood Thrush, Mountain Bluebird, Black-tailed Gnatcatcher, Swainson's Warbler, Yellow-throated Vireo, Solitary Vireo, and Hutton's Vireo.
