Job placement activities of beneficiaries in the labor market by social inclusion companies in Switzerland

Despite their many definitions and models, it is generally accepted that the characteristics of social enterprises are to offer jobs close to those of a standard business, in order to enable the integration of people facing difficulties (unemployed, disabled, etc.), while generating income from the sale of their goods and services. In this context, several social enterprises offer job placement services to help their beneficiaries find a position in the mainstream labour market. The aim of this study is to understand the relationship between the job placement services of social enterprises and: 1) their internal organizational context 2) the context of the public social welfare bodies that can grant them placement mandates 3) the context of employers in the ordinary job market where they try to place beneficiaries. The aim is to account for the structuring of social enterprise placement activities by these internal and external contexts, as well as the ways in which placement is carried out by the professionals working within them (who may be social workers), and their effects and challenges.
