We report the role of sRNAs populations during the induction of callus tissues from VS-535 maize embryos displaying contrasting in vitro embryogenic potential; characterized through Next-generation sequencing (NGS). We conclude that the Embryogenic Response during Maize Somatic Embryogenesis induction is closely related to sRNAs regulation and depends on the developmental stage of the explant. Overall design: Six sRNAs samples were analyzed: Immature Embryo 15 Days After pollination (DAP; IE15); Immature Embryo 23 DAP ( IE23); Mature Embryo (ME); Calli obtained from IE15 at one month of subculture (C15); Calli obtained from IE23 at one month of subculture (C23); and Calli obtained from ME at one month of subculture (CM). Data generated by deep sequencing, in duplicate, using Illumina NextSeq-2000 in single end format
