SD-Antibug research group aims to develop bacteriophage based therapeutics to handle MDR bacterial pathogens (Klebsiella pneumoniae). Major goal is to isolate bacteriophages that can kill hypervirulent & multi drug resistant (MDR) Klebsiella pneumoniae that are phenotypically resistant to multiple antibiotics, genotypically harboring genes encoding diverse beta lactamase enzymes including NDM enzyme etc. that are known for catalyzing the deactivation of all beta-lactam antibiotics including carbapenem the last resort antibiotic.
