ThisguidancehasbeendevelopedtoprovideadviceonthepreventionofpotentialsexualtransmissionofZikavirus.TheprimarytransmissionrouteofZikavirusisviatheAedesmosquito.However,sexualtransmissionofZikavirusmayalsobepossible,withlimitedevidencerecordedinafewcases.ThisisofconcernduetoanassociationbetweenZikavirusinfectionandpotentialcomplications,includingmicrocephalyandGuillain-Barrésyndrome.ThecurrentevidencebaseonZikavirusremainsextremelylimited.Thisguidancewillbereviewedandtherecommendationsupdatedasnewevidenceemerges.
