Oxidative Stress and Inflammatory Pathways Are Associated with Arterial Stiffness in Vitamin D Deficient and Obese Individuals of Emirati Population

We identified using whole transcriptome analysis several differentially expressed genes and two signaling pathways as molecular mechanism(s) that underlie arterial stiffness in vitamin D deficiency and obese patients. Oxidative stress and inflammatory biomarkers could be potential diagnostic and therapeutic targets to prevent early vascular damage and subsequent cardiovascular diseases in those high-risk individuals.
