Tropical Cyclone Surface Wind Reduction with a Neural Network

This dataset serves as a repository for the manuscript entitled "Tropical Cyclone Surface Wind Reduction" accepted for publication in the Journal of Geophysical Research: Machine Learning and Computation. The training dataset which was generated from the FLIGHT+ dataset is contained in "Polar_Norm_Winds_All.nc". The code to generate the version of the SWANN model from the paper is in a Python 3 notebook called "SWANN_Model_Generation". The SAMURAI Doppler-radar-generated wind field information from Hurricane Idalia has been converted into a NetCDF that contains the relevant model predictors in "Idalia_case.nc". The test case for Idalia can be run in a Python 3 notebook named "Idalia_Case_Test.ipynb". All files containing "HS24" are model information files for the main SWANN model generated in the paper which can be used to run the Idalia test case or generated with the provided SWANN model notebook and dataset.
