Lipids comprise one of the main constituents of particulate organic matter (POM) and are especially abundant after phytoplankton blooms, which can lead to an accumulation of specific lipids such as triacylglycerols (TAGs) within sinking marine aggregates. In this study we combined nano-lipidomics and live-cell imaging and genomics to study the ability of marine bacteria, isolated from marine particles to degrade different lipid components.
