The dataset produced by the Seshat project contains machine-readable historical information about global history. The dataset provides quantitative and structured or semi-structured data about the evolution of societies, defined as political units (polities) from approximately 10000 BC to 1900 CE, across 35 sampling points globally. The features of the dataset include polity ID, sampling zone, world regions, duplicate status, historical period, fact type, timestamp, short textual descriptions in Italian and English, and annotated phases according to Structural Demographic Theory.
