Response of soil eukaryotes to urban reforestation

To determine the responses of microbial eukaryotes in soil to changes in urban land cover (i.e., reforestation), we conducted DNA sequencing of the 18S rRNA gene. The goal was to identify the fungal and protist taxonomic groups that are sensitive to urban land cover change and to determine the ecological functions of those organisms.
