This study examined the relationship between DWH mousse amounts (0.0, 25.0, 50.0, 100.0 and 200.0 mg /spread on 16 sq cm2 of surface area) and direct contact toxicity as determined by developmental abnormalities at 96 hours of exposure and cumulative mortality tallied at 192 of exposure. The mousse was spread on the same amount of surface area no matter the total amount applied. The thickness of the mousse varied with the amount applied. The results suggest that increases in amount of mousse on surfaces was not represented with stoichiometric increases in toxicity to zebrafish embryos in direct contact with the mousse as would be observed with substrate breeding fishes. Contact surface was determined by chorionated embryo size.
