James San Jacinto Mountains Reserve Annual Report

The number of applications to use the James Reserve has increased during the past year. The number of man-days the reserve was used, and the organizations or institutions involved, are given in Table 1. Researchers, teachers or students from 6 University of California campuses, 14 other California organizations or institutions, 4 other states, and 5 foreign countries participated in activities at the reserve. David Hagstrom completed his investigation of spiders this year, and is preparing the data for his Ph.D. dissertation. The long term studies of Dr. Jean Pierre Simon on grasses and Dr. Charles Fleschner on pine insects are continuing. No new long term investigations were initiated this year.
